As community-based organizations continue to face challenges with implementing and expanding their programs and services, finding ways to diversify their fund development portfolio continues to be a priority. Today, grant funding is still the lifeline of community-based organizations providing HIV prevention, care and treatment services and as such, organizational leaders must continually sharpen their grant writing skills to remain competitive and keep their organizations thriving.

This 2-day grant writing training is the ideal opportunity for HIV Program Directors, Executive Directors, HIV Service Coordinators and key staff of an organization’s grant writing team to polish and improve their grant writing skills. This training will allow participants to explore in depth training segments, such as researching funding announcements and grant opportunities, outlining components of a grant proposal, developing logic models, formulating program budgets, preparing an evaluation plan and packaging the proposal.

Training Objectives: By the end of the Grant Writing Training, participants will be able to:

a. Understand and identify the basic structure and key elements of a grant proposal;

b. Discuss strategies for an effective grant writing process.

c. Develop a plan for conceptualizing, writing, reviewing, and evaluating a grant application;

d. Learn how to develop and write SMART goals and objectives; and,

e. Develop an appropriate budget narrative and justification.

The training and training materials are free to all community-based organizations and since space is limited; organizations are asked to register by October 5, 2014. Organizations will be permitted to register a maximum of 2 persons.
